MICHAL MACKŮ
*1963 Bruntal (CZ)

Michal Macků was born in Bruntal, Czechoslovakia, he currently lives and works in Olomouc.

In 1985 graduated from technological faculty of the polytechnic institute in Brno. In 1989 graduated from the institute of art photography in Prague. In 1989, Michal Macků created his own photographic technique, called gellage.

Michal Macků's creation grows from a solid foundation of personal experience. Despite the drastic and cruel images of destroyed bodies, screaming mouths, and even working with bodily fragments, he gradually delves deeper into an attempt to capture the emotions, tension, and turmoil of the human psyche. Through focused work and in harmony with his life stance, he matures towards an almost immaterial depiction of buried inner thoughts and emotional currents of human beings, which he overlays or almost dissolves into natural motifs. The images he brings to light are unpretentious, simple, understandable, and therefore important.
